I personally love the scent of lavender, and many others do too! In fact, I can probably count on one hand the number of times Iโve heard someone say they dislike the scent of lavender. It has a lovely floral aroma that isnโt overpowering, and itโs actually quite calming, too. Itโs a great scent for all sorts of everyday uses, but today weโre using it for laundry – for lavender dryer bags, to be precise!

Aside from having a lovely scent, lavender is also a natural moth repellant, making it perfect for dryer bags. Rather than using a manufactured lavender scent, weโre going all-natural and using dried lavender flowers. Lavender flowers are easy to find online, and theyโre pretty inexpensive too. For about $13, you can get enough dried lavender to make dozens of these dryer bags!
Here’s how to make your own:

Homemade Lavender Dryer Bags
Youโll need:

Instructions:
This project doesnโt really need instructions, but it felt wrong not to include them…so here goes. Just take a spoon or a small scoop and fill the bags with dried lavender flowers.

Tie them off tightly (using 3 or 4 knots just to be safe), and voila! Youโve got a dryer bag.

Using Your Dryer Bags
Toss a bag into the dryer along with your laundry. Your clothes will smell wonderful when theyโre done drying!

You can use each bag between 5 and 10 times before the flowers run out of fragrance. Once that happens, you can untie the bag, dump out the old flowers, and put some fresh ones in. You can also toss your lavender buds with a few drops of lavender essential oil if desired.
As for the old flowers…save those to sprinkle on your carpet before vacuuming. The brush of your vacuum will release the last bit of lavender scent, and freshen up your carpets. Neat!
Have you tried using dryer bags?

Good Morning from Ontario, Canada. I have been a daily reader of your site for about 5 years or more now & love it. Learned some great stuff here. The dryer ball information is awesome, started using them about 6 months ago & would never go back to dryer sheets. Also put some drops of natural oils on them. They make good gifts too. Thanks for all the great info you send. I pass it on to my daughter & many women I know.

Please log in or create a free account to comment.I was disappointed for two reasons
1) I saw that it came from China, this was little worrisome, I have read to many uncomfortable stories about products made in China.
2) I did put the lavender in the small cachet bags that I ordered and put it in the dryer with the clothes, they did not have any effect. I tried it a few times and nothing.
Hello Again, Hard to believe I have not received a response from you, but you did change the company to buy the product from . Not IMPRESSED with you.
SORRY
VERY DISSAPPOINTING
I guess you did not do your homework when recommending the product that I purchased. Now I wasted my money .

Eileen, I’m very sorry that you were disappointed with the product you received. Sometimes my readers are upset that I suggest expensive products, so I try to strike a balance between too pricey and low quality. This time it didn’t work out, and I’m sorry that happened. I never changed my recommendation, if the product changed it’s on behalf of Amazon. Sorry again. :-(
Jillee, Thank you for your explanation
Do these work to prevent static (to replace dryer sheets)? Or just to make the clothes smell nice?
Please log in or create a free account to comment. They definitely help with static, but not as much as other dryer solutions I’ve tried. These are great for static: http://jillee.co/2iqQp6k

I would probably soak the old flowers in vodka for a while to make a really light spray fabric refresher. Or maybe experiment with adding them to my vinegar cleaning solution.

Please log in or create a free account to comment.Great idea. I love the scent of Lavender. However, due to my sensitive skin I have to use the unscented dryer sheets. Does anyone know if the dried Lavender would cause problems. The dryer sheets that are scented really irritate my skin, so this would be my main concern about doing this .
Please log in or create a free account to comment. What irritates the skin are the chemicals used onthose sheets, unless you are sensitive or allergic to lavender, it shouldn’t affect you. Rub between your fingers a couple of flowers buds and try it. Some unscented product have chemicals to kill the smell.

Please log in or create a free account to comment. You should be able to revive the scent by placing buds in the freezer. Though perhaps that only works when the stems are included in sachets. The stems are quite fragrant and often last much longer than just the buds.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Lavender is also a trigger for allergies. Please be careful if you work with people in office spaces.

How to remove negative from the body
Please log in or create a free account to comment. What a lovely scent for bedding! As always, thank you, Jillee.
Please log in or create a free account to comment.Jillee, First, I want to thank you so very much for all the years I have followed your suggestions! You have given great advice! Not sure if I caught this one on your site that could go well in this subject but…I use for my dryer…the natural Wool Balls you can just toss in your load and you can either leave them as is or add a few drops of any scent essential oil (ie: Lavender) they not only add a wonderful scent..but, help lessen your drying time by separating your clothes as they circulate and fluff nicely! Also , cuts your gas/electric bill cost down :)
